Parents Association

The St Joan of Arc Parents Association (PA) is committed to fostering the sense of community and fundraising for the school. Each parent/carer who has a pupil in the school is a member and each family is expected to contribute about an hour a month to volunteering or helping out in whichever way they can. The PA relies on a committee of 4-8 members, a group of 15-20 parent volunteers with ongoing support roles and the support of all families who volunteer for events a few times a year.

The PA has a fundraising goal each year, agreed in September with the Headteacher. Over the last few years the money raised has gone towards specialist music tuition for all year groups, a complete new set of reading and phonics books, playground equipment in the main school and Nursery outdoor areas, sports equipment for use on the all-weather sports pitch (which was also built with PA money), as well as additional computer equipment for use in the classrooms. We also provide funds for smaller but equally important things which could not be funded from any other source, such as leavers’ gifts, school trips and the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations at the school.

The PA raises money through regular fundraising activities such as monthly cake stalls, recycled uniform stalls, an online donation fund, and raffles. We also organise several fundraising events throughout the year such as the International Evening, Quiz Night, the Summer Fête and the Online Auction, as well as helping the school with the annual Readathon event. There are numerous ways you can get involved in supporting the PA and all help and support is hugely appreciated, whether it’s finding a prize for the auction, baking cakes, running a stall or selling raffle tickets – all contributes to our fund-raising activity.
